You know that you should not mix drinking with driving. Buckling up the seat belt to ensure safe driving is also a well known precautionary measure. But apart from this, there are many other things to know when you are driving. Here are they.
Apart from the above facts, you should know that driving is a no-no when you are feeling drowsy. This drowsiness may be due to some medications that you might have taken before driving down. The medication may be of a heavy dosage which makes you feel sleepy. So, before you drive, you should not take a heavy dosage of any drug. If the medication is unavoidable, it is better to stay away from driving.
Safety is not confined to the driver only. It equally applies to your co-passengers. Be it your spouse, elderly one or your children, it is your responsibility to ensure their safety as well, when they are traveling with you. When it comes to your little kids, you should provide them the rear seat rather than the front seat. Same applies to the elderly ones.
When driving, make sure that the doors are locked tightly. This safety precaution is especially applicable when you are stuck in traffic because you would never know when the naughty robbers would come, open your doors and rob you of your cash. This is also very important when you are traveling with your kids.

The revised and enlarged cooling intakes give the front end of the car a bit more of a chin. The length of the front and rear fascias has been increased by two inches. The headlights have been trimmed while the taillights have become skinnier. The headlight units are much shorter front-to-rear and incorporate Y-shaped daytime running lights into their housings. Major and minor automobile accidents are increasing at an alarming rate. This has driven the car manufacturers to thing a step ahead about the safety features provided by them to their customers. Vehicle manufacturers are giving priority to the safety features and protection devices in their new models.
However, you should not think that the stylishness and sleekness of the cars take a back seat. They are of course, the USP for many cars.
The vehicles nowadays are also tested for effectiveness. Crash tests are conducted to check the restraint devices. These tests are conducted by the manufacturers as well as the National Highway Traffic and Safety.
This is to facilitate every passenger vehicle to come up to certain federal safety standards. Minimum-security levels are specified in these safety standards. It is also specified on how a vehicle should be built and equipped with gadgets that would protect the passengers aboard in case of accidents.

Premium German automobile manufacturer Audi wins 2008 European Inventor of the Year award. Audi received the award from the European Patent Office for the invention of Audi Space Frame Technology. The company qualifies for the award for its significant contributions to Europe’s economical growth and competitiveness.
“The award is a testament to our lead in lightweight aluminum design technology, an area that is so important for the automobile industry,” says Rupert Stadler, Chairman of the Board of Management of Audi.
The Audi Space Frame (ASF) was first presented to the world public at the International Motor Show in Frankfurt in 1993 as the body of an Audi A8. The ASF is a high-strength aluminum frame structure into which the panels are integrated so that they also perform a load-bearing function. The Audi Space Frame comprises a complex structure of extruded profiles and cast nodes. Together these result in a car body with very high stiffness and a vehicle offering above-average crash protection. The ASF design enables significant weight savings, improved handling and lower fuel consumption.
Norbert Enning, 51, is one of Audi’s most inventive employees. Enning and his team developed ASF technology under the leadership of Heinrich Timm in the early 80s. “The body of the Audi A8 utilizing the ASF principle is one of the lightest in the luxury class,” says Enning. Since joining Audi in 1982, the graduate mechanical engineer has made inventions in the areas of pedestrian protection and interior appointments in addition to his numerous inventions relating to the ASF design.
Today the Audi A8, the Audi TT Coupé, the TT Roadster, the Audi R8 and the Lamborghini Gallardo are all equipped with Audi Space Frame technology.

The soaring prices of gasoline forces everyone to look for gas saving tips and tricks. Nobody on earth would like to empty his or her wallets at the neighbourhood service station. Therefore, here are a few gas saving tips for you. Read on.
Tire pressure:
It is always recommended to check the pressure in the tires of your car at least once a month. Purchase a digital gauge for checking the tire pressure. For easy access, keep the gauge in your glove compartment. Read the recommended tire pressure in the owner’s manual of your car and inflate your tires as needed.
Oil:
The right oil for your car means that your car is doing fine. As we have discussed in many articles, you should change the oil of your car after every 30,000miles. Check the grade of oil that is recommended by the manufacturer.
Spark plug:
Check the spark plugs as needed. It is very important to keep your engine in tune because this boosts your gas mileage by around 4 percent. The spark plugs should not work below the required efficiency as this may lower your car’s fuel efficiency approximately up to 30 percent.
Car parking:
Keep your car in the shade during the summer. It is recommended to park your car in the garage to prevent your car from becoming too hot or too cold.

Hybrid cars were driven only by the techno-geeks celebrities and environmentalists few years ago. Now, things have changed. Hybrid cars are becoming common on the roads. Every other person is spotted driving a hybrid. Thanks to the gas-electric auto technology, which is so appealing that, a large number of people are turning their heads on saving money at the pumps by switching over to hybrid cars. Hybrids have contributed its part in reducing people’s dependency on oil. Moreover, the hybrid version reduces the air pollution by almost 80 to 90 percent.
Now we should seriously think why the taxis and limousines are still based on the traditional fuel. Why can’t the livery fleets, the largest class of public vehicles on city streets, be converted into hybrids?
We know that the limousines are bigger in size and the fuel consumption is more than the ordinary vehicle. The amount of time spent by the limousines on road is also more.
Hence, the limousine industry finds it necessary to be aware of the impact the limousines are having on the environment and the need to reduce the damage caused by them.
As a result, many companies have begun offering chauffeur-driven hybrid livery cars. Now you can book a luxurious limousine service in a hybrid.
The hybrid limousine hire mission aims at offering the executive level chauffeured transportation to reduce the harmful pollutants in the cities and environment. It also aims at reducing people’s dependence on oil. The mission also aims at encouraging the chauffeured transportation industry to make extensive use of natural resources.
