Before delving into the best possible way what are car wheels areall about and why they are usually the first thing to go when talking about upgrade let’s first have a look on a research that took place on 1990. The research was done after the break down of the wheels on some cars during race. The wheels were heated and this thermal energy caused in aging of the material which reduced its normal life.
There is a whole branch of science that is called “material resistance” and it’s about how materials can be made to sustain a long life with minimal resources. This science clearly analyzes the stress caused due to various reasons.
Researchers have found that residual stress is held in the wheels. When wheels are manufactured the material is processed on differnet ways. The annealing, forming and some other techniques leave the material in internal stress. This makes the tyre vulnerable and after sufficient load, thermal cracks will appear which will damage the material. This quickly leads to its complete destruction.
When we say residual stress, we are refering to all the stress that remains after the object is processed and then freed of all load. After some further discoveries, scientists found that the cracking is caused by fatigue of the material. It was a result of the fraction that was caused by the brakes. The thermal cracks were found on the axis of the wheel.
The real material resistance plan is about calculating both residual stress made during manufacturing and the stress caused during the service of the wheel. The second one could be done by setting math variables in proper formulae to watch for how the material is damaged during the process. This helps us in picking the right material for the time that we need to have before the product become unusable.
To see how we can control the residual stress we have to understand the manufacturing process in depth.
To make the wheels in the proper shape, a multi-step process is used. This is about making the inceptive form of the product. Then the residual stress is got released. This happens when a high temperature is applied. When we do that the particles of the material begin to move more quickly and reorganize in a better way. Usually the temperature that is used is around 871 °C. After the part is reheated it is cooled with a water spray. This causes in gaining the proper microstructure of the material.
For conclusion about the research we have to point that after it there is a way for simulation of service and checking how the wheels will respond then it is easy for experiments to be made and better products that will endure more and cracks will be not likely to appear.
One criterion of the wheels is the size of it. Simple mechanics could tell you that its one of the most important things about wheels because the size is linked to the speed.
When picking wheels, it is a must to know that different cars have different suspension and you have to ensure that the wheels are good for your car. You can see the specification of the wheels to secure yourself from making a mistake. The wheels are the component of the car that interact with the road and let it move so you have to be very careful while picking them.

So what’s so special about the BMW 7 series that the global elite can’t get enough of it? In fact, what so great about the newest model off the block?
Lets have a look.BMW had to do something radical with its new car. The head lamps too have been given a resketch giving the new flagship an elegant face. the front bumper is now a large unit which houses an extra large air dam and recesses for the fog lamps .but apart from being just another bumper, the one on the 7 has some clever gizmos up its sleeve. Perched neatly in front is a little camera which is the eye of the night vision.
The most important requirement for the new 7 is to cocoon its passenger in the arms of luxury. To make sure it lives up to those expectations, BMW has put in comfortable Dakota leathered seats which can be electrically adjustable to as many positions as you can imagine.
However the most striking departure is its 10.2 inch LCD screen which doubles as a multi view camera. Talking about cameras, the car’s night vision device is another great feature; the BMW night vision provides a new dimension of optical perception. A thermal imaging camera detects objects in front of the car before they become visible to human eye in the head lights. The image generated by the system is then transmitted to the central control display, presenting objects detected with increasing brightness as a function of the heat detected by the camera –thereby making human being s and animals particularly conspicuous. The thermal imaging camera covers a range of up to 300 meters ahead and offers the driver particular benefits when driving on darkened roads.
BMW had always known that its I Drive system was rather complicated and that customers almost needed a PhD in electronics to perform a simple function like docking their mobile phone via Bluetooth. So designers are back with a simpler version. The first thing they have done is separate the climate control functions from the I drive system that’s not where it ends. BMW has also endowed the 7 with an automatic emergency call function on the BMW connected drive.
But finally what makes a Bimmer is the way it drives. Only for BMW, injecting a massive engine into its cars doesn’t herald the end of matter. The company is now looking to satisfy Green Lovers as well. Come next year, the 7 will get a small electric motor placed between the transmission tunnel and the engine. Truly, the new 7 is a masterpiece which has finally upped the ante for its biggest rival.

Chevrolet has big… well… smallish plans for Paris, where the automaker will unveil an “all-new” compact vehicle dubbed the Cruze. Born from Chevy’s global design and engineering team, the Cruze will sport many of the exterior elements we’ve seen on recent concepts, so expect lots of angular lines, a high belt-line and a squat greenhouse. The Cruze will supposedly be able to handle a parcel of five passengers, along with whatever junk they can fit in the trunk, and will measure in at 4.6 meters (181 inches) think of it as the next cobalt.
After its world premier in the City of Lights this October, the Cruze will go on sale across Europe in the spring of 2009, and, according to the press release below the fold, will be available in “other global regions” afterwards.
Cruze was developed by a global design and engineering team and will be built in multiple locations around the world. The Cruze approaches an overall length of 4.6 meters and offers ample interior space and cargo capacity for five passengers, giving it an advantage over competition in the compact segment.
GM (General Motors) says that the Cruze will be available with 16-valve, 1.6-liter (112 hp) and 1.8-liter (140 hp) gasoline engines featuring variable valve timing (VVT) on both inlet and exhaust sides. This will give the car additional power as well as better fuel economy while producing lower emissions. The automaker’s new 2.0-liter turbo diesel, developing 150 hp will add more power with even greater fuel thriftiness. A five-speed manual transmission will be standard, but an optional six-speed automatic transmission will round out the Cruze’s offerings. The latter transmission choice is unusual in that it’ll be the first time that a six-speed transmission is used in the compact car class.
Interior styling is still a bit of a mystery, one that GM plans to talk more about when the car officially makes its debut at the Paris Auto Show in September 2008. Seating for as many as five occupants is likely, with optimum capacity for four adults.
Will customers be attracted to the Cruze? That remains to be seen but with its arching roof-line and coupe-like proportions, the Cruze certainly has a sporty flair, something lacking in most cars of its size.
Cruze features Chevrolet’s new global design language that will continue to be a signature element for future vehicles carrying the gold bowtie. Combined with high safety standards and excellent build quality, Chevrolet will again deliver on its promise of offering a very attractive package at an exceptional value.
