RSSLamborghini Gallardo and the LP560-4
Lamborghini Gallardo, a car, a dream, a reality super-car of the 21st century. If words could describe this beauty, they would be written by a poet. The Gallardo is a beautiful woman with a strong spirit that only a hard and strong men can tame. This is not a super-car for the weak, it is super-car for the select few.
The Gallardo was originally put on the design block as a competitor for the Ferrari 360, and ended up being the competition for the Ferrari F430. The Gallardo, unlike the Ferrari, has a rear-biased all wheel drive drain which makes this Lamborghini a complete stand out from the regular 4 wheel drive cars.
Unlike the famous models that preceded the Gallardo, this super-car doesn’t have scissor doors that have become so famous on all Lamborghinis, such as the Countach, Diablo and Murcielago. Most in the auto industry believe this change was done to make the Gallardo more user friendly and mainstream oriented. After all, why have a super-car when you can’t even drive into an underground garage because your doors wont open in a parking space.
In terms of design, the famous Luc Donckerwolke designed the 2003 Gallardo and the 2002 Murcielago, both won him the 2003 Red Dot award! He put together the base Gallardo design, which has been varied into the different Gallardo models.
Lamborghini Gallardo Models:
Gallardo Spyder - convertible, only change from the coupe is the soft top.
Gallardo SE - special edition: changes include an increase by 10 horsepower in the case of the car as well as a 2 tone color and a rear view camera.
Gallardo Nera - special edition: the only differences are visual, as the Nera is mainly designed to showcase the amazing variety of options available with the Gallardo.
Gallardo Superleggera - launched in 2007, this Gallardo is about 70kg (154lbs.) lighter then the base Gallardo. The horsepower has increase to a top 530 hp, which results in the decrease in the 0-100km/h time to 3.8 seconds.
Gallardo LP560-4 - revealed in 2008, at the Geneva Auto show, this Gallardo is now the most powerful Gallardo on the market, with 552hp and 398lb-ft of torque.
Price is the real factor with the Lamborghini Gallardo. The 2008 Lamborghini Gallardo price ranges from $201,595 - $263,595 USD. In general, with all the added option, a Lamborghini Gallardo will run you at around $300,000 USD.
