Mitsubishi Outlander: The Crossover That Scores High in America

The oil price hike really affected the sales of large SUVs that are known to be gas guzzlers. This brought down the manufacturing of SUVs, leading the car makers to launch SUVs with efficiency of small cars.
The demand for the versatility of a large vehicle and the fuel efficiency of a small car paved way for the development of crossover vehicle. Crossover vehicles are SUVs developed on a small car platform. Mitsubishi by smelling the future demand for crossovers have launched its new model Outlander, which stands out from the rest of the models.
The Mitsubishi Outlander is a compact crossover sport utility vehicle which was launched in North America at the 2001. Since its launching in the North American International Auto Show, the vehicle was in heavy demand among the car lovers. .
Mitsubishi proudly claims that the new Outlander is a fusion of a rally car and an SUV with an increased size, handling and better performance. It comes out in three forms, the ES, LS, and the XLS, all three equipped with V6 engines unlike other crossovers.
These crossovers have a 3.0-liter V6 engine that could make 220 horsepower at 6,250 revs per minute. It has a Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution chassis that provides a rally car attribute. The chassis has a rigid unibody structure. The steering and suspension system plus the all-wheel drive system option ensures car-like handling and performance making it easy for the driver to handle. It is these remarkable features that made the Mitsubishi Outlander a favourite model among the car lovers.
The Mitsubishi Outlander carries all sophisticated safety features that assures the safety of the driver to the full extend. It has four anti-lock disc brakes with the electronic brake force distribution. The crossover also has a tire pressure monitoring system connected with it. This crossover from Mitsubishi also is equipped with dual stage front air bags with a passenger seat occupant sensor that guarantees the safety to the full extend.
