Norwegian Electronic Car to Hit US
Norwegian automaker “Think Global’, plans to sell electric car in the United States. The company claims that the electric car, which costs less than $2500 can go up to 110 miles without a charge. The company has announced that the two venture capital firms with Silicon Valley roots — RockPort Capital Partners, and Kleiner, Perkins, Caufield & Byers — have provided backing to sell an electric car named as “TH!NK City”.
“The TH!NK city is the world’s only crash-tested and highway-certified electric vehicle and is ideal for markets such as California where we will initiate demonstration projects offering an exceptionally safe and fun car to drive,” said Jan-Olaf Willums, CEO of Think Global. “We are proud to partner with the two pioneering investors in the clean tech field and to launch TH!NK city in North America with them.” According to him, the test vehicles will be brought to the US soon. He added that a convertible model is in development.
It’s “a mass-market vehicle,” said Ray Lane of venture capital firm Kleiner, Perkins, Caufield & Byers. “Our desire is to be selling 30- to 40- to 50,000 of these cars in a couple of years” he added.
The company claims that the TH!NK city is emission free and 95% recyclable. The top speed of the electric car is 65 miles per hour and can drive up to 110miles on a single charge. According to the company, “TH!NK city meets all European and U.S. federal motor vehicle safety requirements.”
