America has always been a fertile land for sports car. No wonder, all the car makers were too keen to roll out their sports versions into Yankee land. Chevrolet, the French subsidiary of GM introduced its Corvette model in 1953. Considered as the most classic American sports car, Corvette took it no time in invading the hearts of car lovers. Corvette is first completely American sports car built by an American car company.
The Corvettes that roll out on New Land roads are manufactured in the Chevrolet plant located in the city of Bowling Green, Kentucky. Chevrolet had to face a lot criticism on for Corvette’s handling. This made the company to bring out an improved handling to be on a par with popular European sports cars. However, they still remain relatively affordable, making it the popular brand sports car in the US. Corvettes are much simpler than the European model technical sports cars, which make sit weigh less and cheaper in price than the competing models.
The car was modelled by famous car designer Harley Earl felt the need of a US sports car after seeing the European sports cars. It was in 1953 Motorama car show, that the Corvette got unveiled. Since its release, Chevrolet has brought out six generations of Corvettes but only five of these coveted models left in existence.
In spite of its fifty years of existence in the highly competitive market, Corvette still enjoy the same status and place among the hearts automobile enthusiasts. In 1984 and 1998, Motor Trend’s Car of the Year reached the shelves of Corvette and it found berth in the dozens of Ten Best Car lists. The news of oldest Corvette being sold out for a price of one million US dollars at a recent auction is enough to prove that this car is the most adorable model ever rolled out in the United States. The real classic American sports car is no doubt, is the emperor on roads.

Chevrolet has big… well… smallish plans for Paris, where the automaker will unveil an “all-new” compact vehicle dubbed the Cruze. Born from Chevy’s global design and engineering team, the Cruze will sport many of the exterior elements we’ve seen on recent concepts, so expect lots of angular lines, a high belt-line and a squat greenhouse. The Cruze will supposedly be able to handle a parcel of five passengers, along with whatever junk they can fit in the trunk, and will measure in at 4.6 meters (181 inches) think of it as the next cobalt.
After its world premier in the City of Lights this October, the Cruze will go on sale across Europe in the spring of 2009, and, according to the press release below the fold, will be available in “other global regions” afterwards.
Cruze was developed by a global design and engineering team and will be built in multiple locations around the world. The Cruze approaches an overall length of 4.6 meters and offers ample interior space and cargo capacity for five passengers, giving it an advantage over competition in the compact segment.
GM (General Motors) says that the Cruze will be available with 16-valve, 1.6-liter (112 hp) and 1.8-liter (140 hp) gasoline engines featuring variable valve timing (VVT) on both inlet and exhaust sides. This will give the car additional power as well as better fuel economy while producing lower emissions. The automaker’s new 2.0-liter turbo diesel, developing 150 hp will add more power with even greater fuel thriftiness. A five-speed manual transmission will be standard, but an optional six-speed automatic transmission will round out the Cruze’s offerings. The latter transmission choice is unusual in that it’ll be the first time that a six-speed transmission is used in the compact car class.
Interior styling is still a bit of a mystery, one that GM plans to talk more about when the car officially makes its debut at the Paris Auto Show in September 2008. Seating for as many as five occupants is likely, with optimum capacity for four adults.
Will customers be attracted to the Cruze? That remains to be seen but with its arching roof-line and coupe-like proportions, the Cruze certainly has a sporty flair, something lacking in most cars of its size.
Cruze features Chevrolet’s new global design language that will continue to be a signature element for future vehicles carrying the gold bowtie. Combined with high safety standards and excellent build quality, Chevrolet will again deliver on its promise of offering a very attractive package at an exceptional value.

You may think that Leonid Stadnyk, 37 years old and 2.58 meters, is a very happy man. After all he was registered in the Guinness Book of World Records in 2007 as the world’s tallest man. But when you don’t have a proper car to drive then you are not that happy!
To solve his big problem he send a letter to the Ukraine’s president asking to find him a proper car. The president didn’t ignore the letter and with the help of the government they offered him a Chevrolet minivan, modified at the ZAZ plant, in Zaporizhia.
Although he doesn’t have a driving license at the moment, Stadnyk said he will solve this problem soon. Until then he will only be a passenger to the car.
