 With fuel prices reaching soaring height, the demand for hybrid cars are getting higher. A lot more manufacturers brought out different brands into the market.  Gas prices always only seem to climb, a phenomenon which is new to us no more. However, since our dependency on this is never likely to cease, we can always employ some measures to control our unnecessary wastage of this ever-so-expensive fuel. Here you go!
• Always keep your car tuned up because cars in poor condition tend to use more of this fuel.
• Your car air conditioner is one of the sole reasons that’ll give you worse gas mileage. So if it is inevitable not to use it, make sure that you are using it at a lower setting.
• Your windows should always be closed while traveling at high speeds. Open windows cause additional drag and lower your gas mileage.
• Never over fill the air in your tires because over-inflated tires can actually reduce your fuel efficiency.
• If possible, change your work start time to avoid gridlock. Stop and go traffic hurts your gas mileage.
• Avoid carrying unneeded items in your vehicle. For example, you needn’t carry snow chains around with you in the summertime.
• Avoid your engine to stay idle for longer periods of time. While suck in traffic, you can easily turn the ignition off for you certainly won’t move for the next few minutes.
• Traveling at fast speeds in low gears must be avoided unless you need the compression to slow down.
• Always drive within the speed limit.
• Accelerate slowly when leaving the stop light. Only if you knew, the fastest person through the intersection spends more on gas.
• Revving the engine needlessly wastes gas. There is no need to rev before you turn your vehicle off.

 Volkswagen revealed its breathtaking Golf TDI Hybrid at the Geneva Motor Show last month. Nobody will stop you owning this car, if you are ready to pay more. The machine uses a 1.2 liter three-cylinder diesel engine paired with a 26 horsepower electric motor and returns 69 U.S. mpg and 89 g/km of CO2 emissions in the EU combined cycle. VW Golf TDI Hybrid stands up to the needs of the car lovers- it delivers high mileage and low emissions.
The hybrid has a 1.2 liter three-cylinder diesel engine and a 220V electric motor. The electric motor gets the car moving at low speeds, with the 73 horsepower diesel kicking in only when extra oomph is needed (or wanted) and when cruising at highway speeds. The car also can run either in full-electric or full internal combustion mode, according to VW. Power is transferred through a seven-speed DSG transmission to the front wheels. The car also has start/stop capability and regenerative braking.
VW says the Golf TDI Hybrid consumes 3.4 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers, which by our math is 71.4 mpg.

 Let’s face it- the price of gasoline and diesel are always on the rise and we have to find a better, rather economical option to fill our vehicles. But how? The answer is using hydrogen as fuel for the cars.
Hydrogen cars, like gasoline powered vehicles, utilize hydrogen as their fuel. You will raise your eyebrows after knowing about the mileage- it is mind blowing! Fill your hydrogen powered car at the starting of the month and forget to refuel your car, ‘coz you can go about a month driving in a hydrogen car after the first fill! Now that’s a great idea!
Meanwhile engineers and scientists are doing thorough research to find out the ways to convert your car to burn water similar to what is done by hydrogen powered cars.

 We don’t have any clue when gasoline prices are going to come down. The hefty bills paid every time we fill our cars with fossil fuels are perhaps making life difficult. The invention of hybrid cars is considered to be the perfect cure for the trouble of fossil fuel driven cars. Well, they may be good solutions as they can run on both gas and batteries without the need for recharging. But, think the other side- can we really afford the costly cure? Well, we should have swelling bank balance to enjoy the luxury of driving the environment- friendly hybrids. You will have to make real savings because the batteries too come expensive which need to be replaced from time to time.
Take for example Honda’s tiny Insight- a light-weight two-seater with limited cargo space and price tag of $21000 is powered by a tiny three-cylinder engine with an occasional assist from batteries that recharge by reclaiming the energy expended when you slow down or brake. But, it is expensive when you consider its size and lack of utility.
We give you another example of Honda’s Civic Hybrid. Though it is a bestseller, it will cost you whopping $22000 though it is not the best!  Economy is rough today. Gasoline prices are skyrocketing. And people are finding ways to minimize the fuel costs. A lot of people’s inclination towards water gas conversion kits and hydrogen powered vehicles is the evidence that they are no more willing to compromise by still using gasoline. These are the common ways to cut the costs but do you know that by improving your driving habits, you can actually save a lot of energy and your hard earned money?
First of all, look at the route which you drive on. If you are driving the same route to work, school etc, pay attention to the possible routes which include less traffic. This is because your car’s mpg is going to differentiate on the highway and rural roads. You don’t tend to stop as much in the highways as you do in rural areas and busy routes.
Next, take a look at your car and try to figure out your MPG (miles per gallon) your gas tank is. This will give you a fair idea on how far you can travel until you get close to empty.
To figure out the MPG of your car, reset on of your trip odometers so that it reads 0. This should be done when you are filling up at the pump. Use your arithmetic skill. When you fill up at the pump, note down the miles you drove and how many gallons you filled up at the pump. The number of gallons will be displayed on the pump.
The number will change every time you fill up at the pump. However, make sure that the number shouldn’t change much.
Keep an eye on the MPG of your car and you will be able to save a lot of money!
