Hybrid Cars: Effective in Cutting Down Pollution

Hybrid Cars: Effective in Cutting Down PollutionIt was in 1905 for the first time an effort was made to use hybrid technology in cars. Energy saving efforts was not the prime focus of that time. But the efforts were to increase the speed from zero to twenty-five miles an hour in ten seconds. And sadly with in time this technology got approval, accelerators had already become a part of cars.

The hybrid technology at that period had few takers. The hybrid energy was used for the first time in US in 1918. Again here the main purpose was speed, not cutting the fuel costs. But serious efforts on introduction of hybrid energy were considered for first time in 1960’s. The United States Congress in 1966 felt the need to cut down air pollution and recommended bills that would boost up the production of electric vehicles. This later led to the production of an advanced battery that would ease the transportation on highways.

Most of the developed countries including Germany and Japan started introducing hybrid cars as the air pollution seemed touching serious level. Most big names like Toyota and Volkswagen started introducing hybrid cars. Toyota was the first car maker to bring out hybrid cars to the public. In 1997, it was marketed solely to Japanese people.

Honda was the first automaker to bring out a hybrid car in the US. The first two-seated hybrid car rolled on US roads in 2000, which was followed by different models.

Ford offered its Escape Hybrid in 2004, which is a SUV. With the popularity for hybrid cars getting increased, almost all big names started bringing out hybrid vehicles into the US market.

Apart from the US, many Asian countries including Japan, Korea and Singapore are promoting hybrid cars by providing tax relief to the owners. With in near future, it is sure that fuel vehicles will become part of the history and hybrid vehicles becoming the complete source of transportation.

The Toyota FJ Cruiser has a two tone body, restrained roofline, and painted black bumpers which is an effective combination of the old model with the new.

Like any model from Toyota, The FJ Cruiser also is not ready for any compromise over security. Coming at a 4×2 or 4×4, the FJ Cruiser has vehicle stability control and vehicle traction control along with ABS, brake assist, and electronic brake force distribution for added stopping capabilities that assures full safety for the driver. THE MAKEOVER CARS

THE MAKEOVER CARSThere some cars lined down your lane which just after their releases is in the news since then. This news making group of cars has something to give you and that is a package of style and luxury for you and for your family.

Style for LOGAN
The Logan incorporates virtues which are quite simply beatable in its class. Its roomy has a good ride and with the diesel engine gives incredible fuel economy. Yet the Logan hasn’t been solely because of its drab looks. Logan in Europe just got a light makeover .a large new grille takes a center stage surrounded by larger and sleeker head lamps. New fog lamps inserts are now surrounded by carbon colored inserts.
Although most of the components remain same the overall look has changed. Other changes include better door handles inside and a comma type center headrest to aid better visibility. The engine options 1.4 and 1.6 mpi petrol and the 1.5 dCi diesel remain unchanged.

BMW
The 2009 version of BMW’s isn’t a complete redsign. The front gets profiled bumper, newly contoured hood and reworked headlamps with altered graphics.
Moving to the rear the 3 reveals the modified tail lights to give it a sportier look. It has also relieved a redesigned bumper and rear track to emphasize width. Inside the most striking feature is a larger 8.8 inch color motor with four selections   to make use of the drive system easier.

CAMERO reborn
The Chevy camaro has been one of America’s iconic muscle cars and was designed to take on the legendary ford mustang in the 60’s.chrvy has given the car the retro look. Acres of bonnet and classic short overhangs at the end make it resemble the original classic. Inside the designers have paid special attention to the instrumentation which retained retro fonts. But the best part is the center console, which houses two pairs of rectangular dials for various functions. Chevy has installed a massive 3.6 liter V6 with 300 bhp .but the Chevy comes at the time when fuel prices are soaring and muscle and economy don’t gel.

HONDA’S HYBRID
Soaring fuel prices are driving towards hybrid technology and going beyond the civic hybrid, Honda has unveiled its open stud model featuring a sleek design. With better aerodynamics, it should be able to bring down the fuel consumption further. Bathed in blue, the display gives a sporty halo to this hybrid. But it’s just a show car and not for sale.

SCIROCCO BLOWS AGAIN
Based on the golf platform, scirocco holds it own with its broad, muscular look. it has a low road hugging presence.
Interior resembles that of the passat, barring the flat bottom steering wheel.

Overall the car looks broad and muscular. The scirocco is powered by VW’s acclaimed1.4 and 2.0 liter TSI engines producing 160 and 200 bhp respectively.
It’s a perfect blend of performance and utility and if open up a whole new segment above Rs 15 lakh.

Nissan Opting for a Wide Market

Nissan Opting for a Wide MarketThe auto giant Nissan Motor Company is quietly working on a campaign to overhaul their car line up. The present models including the Maxima,Altima, and Sentra, soon will be transformed into more luxurious and expensive models. They will launch the Versa as the introductory model.
The Nissan motor division has been a big name in the US automobile market with good performance. With the transformation of the make’s name from Datsun to Nissan in the early 1980s to the introduction of a luxury line, Infiniti, in the late 1980s, the Nissan Motor Company has benefited financially and its customers have been receptive to the changes. Nissan was overtaken by Honda and Toyota making it go to third in the lucrative U.S. auto market.

The pending changes for Nissan’s line up are coming about and for the following reasons:

1. The Maxima’s competition, the Toyota Avalon has shed its frumpy image as it borrows Lexus styling cues to give it a much more luxurious and appealing look. An improved interior and more standard equipment has pushed a fully loaded Avalon into the low to mid-30s range as well.Nissan’s response to Toyota’s move is to “Infinitize” the Maxima starting with the 2007 model year. It hopes to give it a more luxurious edge to compete effectively with the Avalon.

2. Introduction of the Versa. To fight Toyota’s budget minded Scion division, Nissan brings Versa — a 1.8L 4 cylinder powered xA-competing hatchback — expected to retail at about $12,000.

The strategy of Nissan does not include the sale of the Maxima, Altima, or Sentra for a less price. In fact, the Maxima’s price may ultimately surge several thousand dollars and into the range of cars sold by their Infiniti division which begs the following question: why purchase a Maxima when an Infiniti G35 could be had for almost the same price? The all new Alabama-built Hyundai Sonata should sell for several thousand dollars less than a comparatively equipped Altima. With Hyundai’s quality levels improving, the Sonata’s appeal rises measurably.

In the end, Nissan must keep pace with Toyota and Honda or risk being marginalized further. With other manufacturers duking it out, it will be interesting to see if higher prices hold for Nissan models or whether the Japanese automaker will be forced to cut prices to win consumers and to hold onto market share.

Honda 2009 – Fit Test Drive Review!

Honda 2009 – Fit Test Drive Review!Cold coffee anyone? Well, the new Honda is proudly flaunting its new cup holders, built at the edge of the dash right. Yes, the next season’s Honda has for you lots of storage space small stuff. The over all look’s funkier, neatly contoured and creviced, sporting a unique style altogether.

The Fit’s cargo bay is its most impressive feature. The space it offers is enormous.A whopping 20.6 cubic feet! Yes, it scores over all its rivals in this regard, be it 17.8 cubes of Nissan Versa, 10.5 of Scion xD and 7.1 of Chevy Aveo5. In fact, the Fit offers ever more cargo space than other bigger cars like the VW Rabbit (15 cu. ft.) and Pontiac Vibe (20.1).Whoa! Hail Honda, must we say! But there is still more good news. The vehicle’s fuel tank is located under the first seat, rather than under the back seat like most cars. This helps the back seats to be folded nearly flat into the floor, opening up to an enormous 57.3 cubic feet of cargo space.

The icing on the cake!
The icing on the cake is that all the versions under this brand will showcase features like power windows, mirrors and locks, air conditioning, power steering, a CD player, and a tilt-and-telescope steering column; the Sport adds alloy wheels, cruise control, iPod adapter and remote keyless entry. Besides, in keeping with Honda tradition, there are few factory-installed options such as the GPS-linked navigation system, available exclusively on the Fit Sport.

On the road!
The latest Fit is powered by a 1.5 liter four-cylinder engine. Its power ratings (117 hp and 106 lb-ft of torque) are comparable to most of its rivals. It also offers a great 5-speed manual transmission with a gentle clutch. It is so much fun that you will just feel like changing gears just for the fun of experiencing the smoothness.

So be it the cabin space, back seat room or grown-up interior decor, the new Honda Fit certainly a better deal at all costs! All you need is a pay check and the amount written on it.

Honda

HondaHey what’s this happening to Honda? Are they all set to conquer the entire automobile market? It seems to be so. With the launching of a series of new models, the Japanese auto giant is all set to create panic among the rival auto makers. Just a glance at the new models from the lineage of Honda will make things more clear to you.

Honda Fit: This is meant for the people who were looking for more fuel efficiency. The Honda Fit was introduced to North American not that long ago. It was Honda’s way of providing city dwellers with a fuel efficient commuter that also has plenty of cargo space.

Accord 2008: With the arrival of the all-new 2008 Accord, there is cause for celebration. It is a very practical and unassuming car. Equipped with a V6 engine, six-speed manual transmission, and plenty of extras the Accord actually becomes fun to drive.

Honda CR-Z: With the introduction of the all new CR-Z concept car, Honda is pushing the limits on bringing true sport and the latest technology together. This new breed of vehicle is poised to set Honda apart from it’s competitors in the Hybrid market. The CR-Z is a lightweight sports car, indicating that it will have the performance to backup its sporty looks. It comes with an interior design of the CR-Z and has a look and feel of a Hi-tech and Sporty vehicle, which has been achieved by a very futuristic instrument panel.

Honda SUT: Next we see the Honda SUT Concept which is a next-generation truck concept that takes a clean slate approach to the light-duty truck segment. It combines a roomy and practical SUV-style interior and a pickup-style cargo bed with traditional Honda strengths. This includes refined styling, superior ergonomics, innovative design and world-class build quality.

Honda aims the truck market which is evolving to meet the changing tastes of a new generation of truck buyers. This model owns a sophisticated look in a sporty and socially responsible package with Honda durability, quality and reliability.

Honda FCV: Honda has decided to bring the exciting “green” cars into production. The FCX hydrogen fuel cell car and a lightweight, hybrid sports car will both be built - with a production version of the FCX making its debut next month. The all-new FCV will be marketed to fleet and retail customers in both the U.S. and Japan. It assures all creature comforts and safety. This will provide performance equivalent to most modern day sedans while producing zero emissions other than water and heat.

Now with this list of new cars, the Honda customers have a lot to look forward to. Honda continues to look at the future of vehicle engineering for a whole new generation of drivers. Are you a Honda fan; holy god, then now it’s your time to be one!

All about Japanese cars

All about Japanese carsA fast moving country has even faster auto industry. Yes, I am talking about Japan.  The cars produced in Japan are some of the finest creations, both look wise and the technology.  Want proof? According to recent reports, Japanese cars are the highest selling cars in the world and are very much in demand.  The trendy and sporty Japanese car models are the solid reasons why there is so much demand to own a Japanese car (even that is my desire!!!)

Let us talk about the big shots of Japan’s car manufacturing industry. The list of the top car manufacturing companies in Japan is populated with Toyota, Nissan, Honda, Mitsubishi, Suzuki, Mazda, Lexus, Subaru, Isuzu, and Daihatsu. Toyota takes the lead in car manufacturing in Japan. The company is rated as the second highest car manufacturer in the world, next to General Motors. In Japan, Honda and Nissan give stiff competition to Toyota.

Meanwhile, Honda Accord was rated as the best selling car in North America. Honda is among the most popular in the auto industry in Japan. The company is well known for its unbeaten quality in its products.

The best part of Japanese cars is that they can be easily imported almost in every corner of the world. Thanks to Japanese government, who have made it easier for the consumers to own a car of Japanese make because they are now lenient the exporting laws are simplified.

The Japanese cars are meant to be the most fuel-efficient cars and the best of facilities available for comfort as well as for safety in the whole world. Many Japanese car models consist of high-quality sound systems, GPS, TV , cameras etc.

The light-weighted K-cars are popular in Japan.  K stands for “Kei” (which means lightweight.) The K-cars mostly do not exceed 660CC and are available in both 2 seater sports and 5 seater models.

Many Japanese car companies manufacture their cars in America as well.

Reports say that the production time spent on each vehicle by the top three Japanese car companies is far less than the production time compared to the top three American companies. Nissan is the fastest in the production time and takes almost 17.25 hours to produce one car where as Honda takes 20.65 hours and Toyota takes 20.69 hours.

No wonder why these Japanese cars are flourishing all over the world!
