Hyundai To Roll Out Low Cost Car

Hyundai To Roll Out Low Cost Car

Hyundai, the name is a synonym for cheap cars, may be not for everyone, but at least for some among us. The Korean automotive giant is famous for its quality of cars that rolls out at a low price tag. Evenn though known for building the Accent, Elantra, and other low-priced vehicles, it isn’t hard for consumers to get a new set of wheels at prices starting around $10K. Big thanks to special rebates the brand is currently offering.

Well, this will be definitely a big news of small fortune to people in places like

India, where the standard mode of transportation for many families is piling on their Honda motorbike and heading out. Buses and trains in India are crammed with people, and passengers are finding it hard to afford even the most basic transportation, but thanks to Ratan Tata who has promised to build a $2500 car for the Indian market, that is expected to change.

Since announcement of Tata to bring in a low cost model, several other global automakers have responded by saying that they, too, will build affordable cars for India and similar markets, though stopping short of saying they’d be able to match the Tata Nano’s price. But curiously Hyundai is absent from the race. Nissan, Peugeot, VW, GM, and several Japanese brands have announced their quest for cheap car greatness, but until yesterday not a peep was heard from Hyundai. Finding themselves out of the race, Kia, some sort of car from the joint automakers could possibly supply the emerging market.

But now Hyundai also seems prepared for that. Hyundai made its response official in a recent interview with Hyundai Motor India managing director and CEO Heung-soo Lheem who told Indian media that Hyundai would bring a car retailing for $3500 to the Indian market by 2011. Holy Christ, now again it seems a fresh air is coming in.

But how much will it cost? The ultra-low cost Hyundai car will come out at a price half of its current barebones model, the Santro, which sells for just over US$6000. Lheem said that Hyundai’s Namyang Technology Research Center is currently developing the budget vehicle. Hyundai says that the yet-to-be-named car will be far superior to the Nano in all aspects. Anyhow, Indians are having something on which they could spin their hopes.

Hyundai: The Journey From Korea to US

Hyundai: The Journey From Korea to US

Hyundai is one of the most popular names in the North America. The entire fleet of vehicles manufactured by Hyundai are very much related to this country. Hyundai was first introduced to the American market in 1986. It was known to be excelled and since that time the company had shown the drastic change in the globe. The company is more face than the production of the cars. According to the figures, it is estimated that the company became one of the largest companies of the world by the end of the last century.

Since its launching, the company has undergone many changes in the engines and the models of the car. It is believed that the company is preparing to launch the 2 liter DOHC engine which is petrol based, while there is also the diesel based engine which 1.6 liter capacity. Apart from this, the displacement of the engine is expected to be 1582cc while the maximum power is considered to be 115bhp which is measured at 6000rpm. The maximum torque is measured to be 26kgm at 1800rpm. Coming to the diesel engine, it is manufactured at the power plant of Hyundai which is of 1.6 liter and is believed to provide the scintillating performance. Along with this, the performance of the car is also more responsive on the road. The main reason behind this is that the car is having the 4-speed automatic transmission which is proving to be the masters of all trade.

This company began operations in Korea in 1946 by Chung Ju-yung, who was the child of a peasant of Northern Korea. And then in the successive year he launched his second company which is known as the Hyundai Civil Industries. But there were some problems that the company was facing during the manufacturing of the cars. But at present time, the company is the biggest manufacturer of its own vehicles.
