Mitsubishi L200: The Royal Wheels to Drive

Mitsubishi L200: The Royal Wheels to Drive

Mitsubishi, the big name in the automobile sector enjoys a large space inn the automobile market for its elegant models. The trucks from Mitsubishi, the Japanese auto giant have always been a craze for vehicle lovers. In older days, the ownership of a pick-up usually used to go hand in hand with displaying a confederate flag and wearing a lot of denim. But the sharp rise in fuel prices and following credit crisis soon killed the trend. The pick-up is the vehicle of choice in a lot of Middle Eastern and African countries

Which generally transports about thirty heavily armed blokes in the back. Mitsubishi seems to be all set to conquer the entire pick up market. It has launched its L200, a raging bull which is primarily a commercial vehicle. The pick-up became attractive in the UK first. That was a few years ago, amongst buyers who would have previously chosen an SUV. The reason for this is the loophole in the company car tax law, which was soon closed by the Chancellor, however those who are self-employed are still able to reclaim the cost of VAT.Mitsubishi has made a clear distinction between work and play by categorizing the L200 range as 4Work and 4Life. While the former offers no frills tough workhorse qualities the latter is packed with more leather and chrome nudge bars than you can shake a stick at.

The latest L200 is a softer more round edged design larger than the old model and has a seat five at a push. Underneath the sleek integrated bodywork there exist coil and leaf springs with a live axle and ladder frame chassis and has switchable all wheel drive plus a lockable centre differential. The cabin of this pick up is well constructed. The L200 requires a little more effort on the road than the average modern SUV. It is powered by a 2.5 litre four cylinder turbo diesel with around 136bhp and 314nm of torque that promises a fairly respectable 0-60mph time and top speed. With an impressive fuel consumption, this SUV promises a grand driving experience.
