Comments Mitsubishi Pajero: Ruling the Roads for Past Three Decade
Mitsubishi, Japanes automaker launched its Pajero model in 1973 targetting an expansion of its car market. The SUV was named after Leopardus pajeros, the Pampas Cat which inhabits in southern Argentine. The SUV adopted different names in different markets ath the time of debut for marketing tactics. While known as Mitsubishi Montero in Spain, and the America, except Brazil, it is called mitsubishi Shogun in the UK. The success of Pajero, Montero and Shogun made Mitsubishi to bring out new models like Pajero Mini kei car, Pajero Junior, and Pajero Junior and Pajero iO/Pinin.
Mitsubishi launched the first model Pajero at the Tokyo Motor Show in Novem,ber 1973 and the Pajero II prototype came out in 1978, five years later. From time to time Pajero underwent serious afce lifts. They were restructuired and remodelled by the Japanese car maker to suit the growing user demands.
The second generation Pajero by Mitsubishi came out in 1991. In the eighties, more than three hundred thousands of Pajeros were sold out around the world. The redesigning of the model was done by the beginning of the nineties to add up th sales.
The second generation model came out with completely restrutured sytyle. It had a new, larger body, available in four different versions; Metal Top, Canvas Top Convertible, Semi High Roof Wagon and High Roof Wagon. The second generation Pajero also carried Super Select 4Wdand multimode ABS, a first attempt on Japanese four wheel drives.
Mitsubishi added two power plants in July 1993, including a a 3.5 liter 24-valve DOHC with ECI-Multi and a 2.8 liter turbocharged diesel with an intercooler. Again the next remodelled Pajero Evolution came out from Mitsubishi in 1997. The third generation Pajero rolled out in 1999, a vehicle completely redesigned, inside and out with lower, wider stance. The car had a fuel tank strategically placed between the axles assuring full safety. In 2006, the next generation came fout from the lineage of Mitsubishi with astonishing exteriors and interiors enhancing safety with dual-stage SRS front airbags as well as new side-impact and curtain airbags. This model was also received whole heartedly by the car lovers around the world. The car lovers are looking forward for the next models as they expect much-much advanced technology from Mitsubishi.
