Tips to maintain the air conditioning system of your car
![]() |
Air conditioning in your car is a complex system. Things will get even more complicated if you do not maintain the air conditioning system. Here are few quick tips to maintain the air conditioning of your car.
Replace the compressor gas: The function of compressor of an air conditioning system is to compress the gas when this gas is pumped into the heat exchanger matrix. This gas is then allowed to expand which will in turn take heat from the air running through the matrix. Your air conditioning system should be checked and re-gassed regularly, as the gas will often escape.
Air conditioning during summer: Many car owners commit the mistake of setting the temperature too low during summers. This will require a great deal of effort to cool the air and when you finally get out of the car. When you step out of the car you may feel that you are stepping out into an oven which is really uncomfortable. Set the air conditioning climate control to only be 1 or 2 degrees cooler than the outside air as this is more economical. This will not take much power out of the engine as well.
Air conditioning during winter: Even if it is winter, turn on your air conditioning system. This should be done as to take the moisture out of the air in the car and clear the mist deposited in the windows.
Clear the smell: If you notice a peculiar smell whenever your air conditioner is turned on or off, you should know that this is an indication of bacteria present in the air filters. Get your air conditioner serviced immediately.
