Tips to save the fuel consumption
![]() |
The gas prices are soaring and we really have to look for the ways to prevent emptying our wallets every time we fill our cars. How? Take a look at your vehicle itself! By altering your driving and maintenance approach, you can actually save some money. Here is the guidance for how to maintain your car and thus keep the fuel consumption under control.
The gas caps: Check your gas caps for any damage. Ensure that they are not loose because, loosened gas caps cause millions of gallons of gas to vaporize every year!
The tires: Under inflated tires can cost a mile or two per gallon. So, make sure that the tires of your vehicle are properly inflated.
Spark plugs: Keep a regular check on the spark plug and clear out the dirt accumulated in it. A dirty spark plug causes misfiring which ultimately results to wastage of fuel.
Air filters: The air filters should not be clogged with dirt, dust and bugs because a choked air filters excess gas for the amount of air which is a sheer wastage of gas. The engine ultimately loses its power. To improve the gas mileage, replace the choked air filters.
Driving style: You may naturally become an aggressive driver if you find a highway free of traffic. But, aggressive driving should be nowhere in your agenda if you have decided to save fuel consumption.
Speed limit: Keep an eye on your speed limit. Gas mileage decreases rapidly at speeds above 60 mph. Each mph driven over 60 will result in an additional 10 cents per gallon.
Every car owner (even me!) wants to save both money and fuel to the maximum extent. By following the above tips, I am sure you will be saving few hard earned dollars!
